Addiction Recovery Support with Somatic Yoga Therapy

Finding balance in your body and nervous system can be a powerful part of long-term recovery.

I offer Somatic Yoga Therapy and mind-body education to help people in early and ongoing recovery reconnect with themselves, regulate stress, and build resilience. My work has supported hundreds of individuals navigating recovery in both inpatient and residential treatment centers, as well as private sessions.

Group Somatic Yoga Therapy for Addiction Recovery

I currently lead residential and inpatient groups at Tellurian and 5 Door Recovery in Madison, WI. These sessions are:

  • Compassion-based and mindfulness-oriented - creating space for healing without judgment.

  • Educational - exploring how chronic stress patterns and emotions are stored in the body, and how to shift toward a more balanced nervous system.

  • Experiential - using breathwork, gentle movement, and guided meditation to regulate body and mind while finding what works best for each person.

  • Practical - providing tools to reduce cravings, navigate triggers, and manage daily stress.

  • Reflective - discussions focus on insights from interoception (awareness of inner sensations) and exteroception (connection to the outer world), building both inner awareness and resilience.

  • Restorative - offering yoga philosophy and mindfulness practices to process shame, strengthen self-compassion, and improve relationships.

One-on-One Sessions

Private sessions build on the same foundations as group work while giving you space for personalized support. Together we can:

  • Explore coping tools and practices tailored to your unique stressors.

  • Create a compassionate space to process life’s twists and turns.

  • Build a wellness toolkit based on your interests and what resonates with you.

  • Support your body’s healing with practices that reduce tension and increase emotional balance.

  • Reinforce long-term recovery through nervous system regulation and mindful self-care.

Why Somatic Yoga Therapy Helps in Recovery

Addiction impacts the whole person - body, mind, and nervous system. Somatic Yoga Therapy addresses the areas many people in recovery struggle with:

  • Stress and Anxiety → Calming the body reduces overwhelm and panic.

  • Cravings and Triggers → Mind-body tools help create pause and choice.

  • Shame and Isolation → Compassion-based practices foster connection and self-acceptance.

  • Emotional Regulation → Breathing and movement support balance when emotions feel too big or numb.

  • Long-Term Resilience → Nervous system regulation builds a foundation for sustainable recovery.

Recovery is not just about what you’re moving away from — it’s about building a life you can move toward with balance, presence, and hope.
